It’s over ladies and gentleman. If you’re thinking about taking up Taekwondo, or looking to get more belts, there’s no point. Taekwondo has been mastered.
Taekwondo, a form of martial arts developed in Korea during the 1940s and 1950s, emphasizes itself on head kicking, jumping and spinning kicks and it’s fast kicking.
The sport became an official Olympic event since 2000, and has infiltrated British culture, with names such as Jade Jones excelling in the sport, winning a gold medal at London 2012 and Rio 2016.
Like a scene straight from Enter The Dragon, or any number of Bruce Lee films, the Korean Taekwondo team, made up of a mix of men and women, dazzle all those who watch and look to attempt.
Flying several metres through the air with extreme precision, they demolish all slates that stand in their way. Whether it be on their left or right, there is no chance as their power and accuracy chops open anything in sight.
It’s almost hard to believe that there is no wires used in the performance, no secret support for the competitors as they soar through the air, only to come crashing down on the slates like a Peregrine Falcon on its prey.
There is surely a future in the action movie business for these artists, with their ability to wow the crowd so plain to see, they would be a fit for any major Hollywood blockbuster.
I for one, would pay over and over again to see them perform the art that they have mastered.
