Aaron Chalmers bids to move to a perfect 5-0 record as a mixed martial artist in his hometown, as he faces American Corey Browning in the co-main event of Bellator Newcastle at the Utilita Arena this Saturday night!
Chalmers traded in the alcohol, partying and reality TV lifestyle almost two years ago and has since enjoyed the perfect start to life as a fighter. The Geordie has won his four bouts, with nobody lasting past 2:10 of the very first round. Two submissions and two knockouts demonstrate that he isn’t just someone that can trade on the feet.
Corey Browning represents the first opponent that Chalmers has faced with a winning professional record. The co-main event will also mark Chalmers first bout at lightweight, having previously competed at welterweight. The former Geordie Shore star had no issue with making lightweight, hitting the limit of 156lbs with ease this morning.
Can Chalmers continue his miraculous start to life in the cage and move to 5-0? Or will Browning spoil the homecoming?
In the main event, former Bellator lightweight title challenger Patricky Pitbull makes the journey to face Sunderland’s own Ryan Scope.
Scope won the BAMMA lightweight title in the Utilita Arena just over a year ago, outpointing Mickael Lebout. Although it feels like Scope has been around the domestic scene for a long time, he has only recently turned twenty-seven and this represents a huge opportunity to force his way to the upper echelons of the Bellator lightweight division.
Brazilian Patricky Pitbull is a twenty fight Bellator veteran, having shared the cage with some of the best lightweights the promotion has had over the years. Pitbull has competed against current champion Michael Chandler twice, as well as former UFC lightweight champions Eddie Alvarez and Benson Henderson.

Top UK prospect Fabian Edwards bids to continue his rapid ascent to the top of the sport, as he faces former Cage Warriors middleweight champion Lee Chadwick.
Edwards holds a perfect 5-0 amateur record, after an impressive 10-0 amateur showing and will be looking to follow brother Leon Edwards into the UFC in the near future. Chadwick missed the 186lbs limit on Friday morning, meaning he will forfeit a percentage of his purse to Edwards with the fight still going ahead.
Opening the main card is a lightweight contest pitting England against Scotland as former BAMMA champion Terry Brazier takes on Chris Bungard in a hotly contested affair.
Brazier is currently riding a nine-fight win streak, clinching the BAMMA welterweight and lightweight titles in his last two fights in 2018. Bungard is riding a three-fight win streak, with Brazier representing the biggest test of the Scotsman’s career so far.
The card also features former UFC stars such as James Mulheron, Jim Wallhead and Abner Lloveras.
Bellator Newcastle is live on Channel 5 from 10PM, with the prelims available on the Bellator App from 5PM.
