The World Indoor Bowls Championships get underway at Potters Resort in Hopton-On-Sea, as Paul Foster goes for a record equalling sixth win.
Bowls has a reputation for being one of the more sedate sports, very much aligned to those in their retirement, which might be why the organisers decided that a two minute blast from Shaun Williamson on the mic might breathe some life into the crown back in 2014.
In one of bowling's most memorable moments, Williamson, famous for playing the hapless 'Barry' from Eastenders took to the green to give a stirring rendition of 'Something Inside So Strong' by Labi Siffre before the final in Great Yarmouth (watch out for that key change!). It's inconclusive whether the crowd appreciated the actor/singer's interruption before the final who by Scotland's Darren Burnett over Mervyn King. The cameras showed some rather confused and bewildered audience members during the performance, although in defence to Williamson, he was given a polite applause, probably more through embarrassment!
Foster is one of the fancied runners alongside Greg Harlow and Nick Brett and you can follow the action throughout the week on the BBC.
Will organisers have anything in store for this year's final? Perhaps Norris from Corrie could do a rendition of John Farnham's 'Your The Voice', or Zach Dingle could belt out a version of Michael Jackson's 'Earth Song'? We wait and see...
