The Sportsman's exhaustive schedule of live rugby league coverage is returning in 2023, with a huge Wigan derby in the Betfred Challenge Cup beginning the latest slate of exclusive matches.
Two of the town's renowned community clubs, Wigan St Patricks and Ince Rose Bridge will clash live on this site in the first round of the famous old knockout competition, which was last year won by the Wigan Warriors in an unforgettable final against Huddersfield Giants at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The match-up represents the beginning of the road to Wembley, the traditional home of the showpiece which again hosts the final in 2023.
The first-round fixture between St Pats and Ince will be played on Saturday week, February 11, kicking off at 3pm, with the winners earning the chance to spring a surprise in round two in a trip to Workington Town of the Betfred League One two weeks later.
The Sportsman will again provide live, exclusive, and free coverage of at least 20 fixtures from a range of competitions in 2023, including League One, the Betfred Women’s Super League and Wheelchair Rugby League throughout the season.
That is in addition to the weekly magazine show, The Last Tackle, which will again screen every Wednesday evening at 6pm and include discussion and personalities from all levels of rugby league.
Following on from a breathtaking of autumn of three consecutive Rugby League World Cup tournaments, the sport is anticipating a fantastic 2023 season to come, and The Sportsman's coverage will be at the heart of that.
