Chances are, if you didn’t have Erling Haaland in your FPL team last weekend, you’ve joined nearly 900,000 others in bringing the Norwegian in ahead of Manchester City’s home fixture against Bournemouth at the expense of Tottenham Hotspur front man Harry Kane.
Those of you who already had him and have managed to bank a free transfer for gameweek three, please wipe that smug look off your face. We're not jealous, honestly.
It’s not just Haaland who FPL managers are making a move for this week though, with hundreds of thousands of players attempting to perfect the ideal squad. Here’s a run down:
1. Erling Haaland (894,473 transfers in)
After picking up 13 points in gameweek one against West Ham United, Haaland was always going to be the hottest property this week. Manchester City don’t face a fellow ‘Big Six’ side until Spurs visit on September 10, so it’s clear to see why managers are switching over from Harry Kane so early on.

2. Oleksandr Zinchenko (514,047 transfers in)
After notching a clean sheet and an assist in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season, over half-a-million players have transferred in the Ukrainian wing-back. A nice run of fixtures and a £5.1m price tag means Zinchenko should be on your watchlist, if he isn’t already in your side.
3. Aleksandar Mitrovic (475,509 transfers in)
Hands up if you expected Mitrovic to score twice against Liverpool last weekend? Liar! After smashing the Championship goalscoring record last season, the Serbian is determined to prove he can do it in the Premier League, and he started with a bang. At £6.6m, FPL players are being seriously tempted, with 14.3% of managers now owning him.
4. Dejan Kulusevski (328,466 transfers in)
The third string to Tottenham’s attacking trio, the young Swede is hot property in FPL right now after impressing again in gameweek one. A cheaper entry into Antonio Conte’s side compared to Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, managers aren’t phased by a tough away fixture at Chelsea this weekend.
5. Gabriel Martinelli (318,703 transfers in)
Gabriel Jesus set records with FPL ownership in gameweek one but it was his Brazilian team-mate who stole the headlines with a goal against Crystal Palace. We’ve already briefly discussed Arsenal’s kind run of fixtures and, at £6.1m, Martinelli is a budget-friendly way to cover a much-improved Gunners side.
WHAT THE EXPERTS DID
@LINN_FPL
I got Callum Wilson in for his tasty fixture in gameweek one (v Nottingham Forest) and my plan was to move him on to Gabriel Jesus in gameweek two, which is what I have done.
@FPLGOAT7
I already have Erling Haaland. I’m saving my free transfer.
@HollyShand
I bought Haaland: I was always considering the swap from Kane to Haaland based on fixture ease this week, so seeing Haaland's form scoring a brace against West Ham meant the move became a no-brainer. Luckily I got in before the prices changed.
