The Championship is dealing in wonder goals at the moment! We had John McGinn's absolute 'thronker' for Aston Villa against Sheffield Wednesday last weekend and a Sheffield Wednesday player has threatened to better that effort with a stunning strike at Hillsborough on Friday night.
Wednesday weren't perturbed by McGinn's goal last week as they went on to win 2-1 at Villa Park and they have obviously been watching that video back as Wednesday midfielder, Adam Reach, opened the scoring against Leeds United with a remarkable long-distance goal of his own
There appeared to be little danger as the ball looped up towards Reach on the left-hand side of the Leeds penalty area, about 25 yards away from goal...
However, Reach allowed the ball to bounce before driving a wonderful strike across the goal and the ball went into the net via the inside of the far post. Bailey Peacock-Farrell in the Leeds goal was left with no chance as he couldn't seem to believe that the ball had ended up inside his net just before half-time.
The goal was the third of a decent season for Reach so far as he was also on target in the win over Reading earlier this month, as well as in the EFL Cup win over Sunderland in August. The winger has become a reliable member of the Wednesday first team, providing two assists in the league, and he has made a real name for himself around the country with his goal at Hillsborough - you can see the goal in all of its glory below.
Move over Tony Yeboah and John McGinn, Adam Reach is the new king of the stunners...
