Newly-Promoted Serie A Side Parma Want To Bring Peter Crouch To Italy

This is one of the strangest transfer stories you will read all summer but iconic Italian club Parma are keen on bringing iconic English striker Peter Crouch to Serie A. The 37-year-old is unlikely to remain at Stoke, who were relegated to the Championship last season and it is though the Italian club could provide the perfect platform for the English forward to finish his career.

SportItalia are claiming that the Ducali want to bring Crouch to Serie A, having gained promotion back to Serie A this season. This marks a remarkable comeback by the club that was symbolic with Italian football during the 1990’s but fell under hard financial times in the early 2000’s, eventually ending in the club filing for bankruptcy in 2014 with unpaid bills totally €218 million.

The club was reborn and started from Serie D, where the fans stuck with them, breaking the record for Season tickets sold at that level and they won the league with an incredible 94 points. They then finished second in Serie C in their first season at that level and then remarkably secured a treble of promotions last season, finishing in second place in Serie B.

They are now on solid foundations in terms of finances and are keen on bringing the 6 foot 7’ striker to Italy. Crouchy bagged five league goals last season but was mainly restricted to playing from the bench in a disappointing season for the Potters but could be swayed by this challenge in Italy.

His wife Abbey Clancy may also be keen to swap the Potteries for the roaming Italian hills however the couple do have three children and are settled in the area. This would be one of the sock transfers of the summer if this one goes through!
