Alex Scott made history today as she became the first ever female pundit on Sky Sports' Super Sunday.
Scott was one of the success stories of the BBC's World Cup coverage this summer and won plenty of praise for her insight.
Now Sky Sports have signed her up for the new season and today she took her place alongside more established pundits like Graeme Souness and Gary Neville.
As a footballer, Scott represented Arsenal and Birmingham before a stint playing in America then came back to Arsenal. She made her first steps in TV working for Arsenal but really shot to prominence when she was a panellist during this summer's World Cup.
Her Super Sunday debut won her plenty of praise on social media though not every one was impressed.
@Calvthom tweeted: "Love all these blokes complaining about Alex Scott on sky sports, she’s won 9 league titles and 7 fa cups, you scored a Worldie once when you were 18 playing 5-aside pal, she’s forgot more than you know about football #SuperSunday
But @mikejefferiesL4 was one of the dissenting voices. He tweeted: "Souness is absolutely FUMING that Alex Scott is on the @SkySportsPL panel At the risk of being called sexist I have to admit that I struggle to take her seriously. Call me old fashioned but I think pundits should be former PL or CL pros."
Such debates will no doubt continue as the season progresses but Scott's performance won plenty of fans old and new. She was clued up and had clearly done her homework. The old guard had better get used to it.
