It sounds silly to say given the technical ability required to succeed at the highest level, but having a good kit can set the tempo for the rest of the season. If a club manages to inspire fans from all over the globe with a solid home or away strip, not only will they be obliged to funnel money into the club in order to buy it but they’ll also be more invested.
With sports, much like in life, a fresh look can alter your entire outlook on how good your fortunes are going to be. Obviously, that sounds ridiculous on the face of it, but a comfortable uniform can lead to a comfortable state of mind and that’s certainly what these five clubs have managed to do in the lead up to the 2017/18 campaign.
Not everyone is going to agree on these selections, but at the end of the day these tops are going to be £50 a pop – so finding the value in them can sometimes be a tricky thing to do.
5) Brighton Home Kit
Brighton are relishing the prospect of competing in the Premier League for the first time, and they’ve continued their trend of consistently producing world class home shirts to go alongside their top flight status. The gold trim and traditional blue and white striped design make this a somewhat obvious yet successful entry.
4) Arsenal Third Kit
Whilst the home strip may be a case of 'lather rinse repeat' to many, the third kit offers up a gorgeous black with pink trim that is sure to increase shirt sales for the Gunners moving forward. The contrast of colours is what makes this a home run, especially considering some of their prior efforts over the years.
3) Tottenham Home Kit
In a delightful call back to their double winning success many decades ago, this sleek yet simplistic effort makes Spurs feel like genuine title contenders. Why? Because it makes them feel all the more professional. It also sums up how they should be behaving on the pitch this season: calm, composed and efficient.
2) Leicester Home Kit
It’s never easy to come back to reality following a brief stint in the main event, which is why this shirt works so well for the Foxes. Not only does the design blend with the Puma sponsor brilliantly, but the touches of gold make sure that nobody will ever forget their famous underdog triumph when they captured the Premier League title.
1) Liverpool Home Kit
#PureLFC
You’ll never walk alone; an age old message that will never go out of style, much like this bad boy that the Scousers have whipped up for the 2017/18 season. This retro kit succeeds in commemorating the Reds’ 125th anniversary year, and also reverts back to the darker Shankly red of years gone by. By all accounts, New Balance have pulled this out of the bag and then some.
