Jack Butland has been given the chance to impress in England's international friendly against Italy tonight as the Stoke goalkeeper has been named in the starting line-up for Wembley.
Butland comes in to the team to earn his seventh international cap as a replacement for Jordan Pickford, who was excellent during the 1-0 win over the Netherlands on Friday evening. The addition of Butland is one of several changes that Southgate has made to his starting line-up for the visit of the Azzurri.
Burnley's James Tarkowski will make his debut in defence for the Three Lions, while Alfie Matson will have to wait for his first full start as he is on the bench. Jamie Vardy has been named up front.
England are unbeaten in seven internationals, going 537 minutes without conceding a single goal, and they will be looking to step up their preparations for this summer's World Cup.
As for Italy, they failed to qualify for the World Cup and they are without the injured defender Giorgio Chiellini.
The Italians have failed to score in three matches in a row, drawing one and losing two, after caretaker boss, Luigi Di Biagio, oversaw a 2-0 defeat to Argentina on Friday night.
