The once humble Christmas jumper has gone from being the source of embarrassment to an absolute fashion essential for the festive season.
Football clubs have been producing their own Christmas tat for some time - from baubles to branded Toblerones.
But the bar has been raised to new heights this year by a jumper which celebrates the sartorial elegance of England football manager Gareth Southgate. The man who inspired a whole nation to dream that football was coming home in the summer is now the subject of his very own Christmas jumper.
Based on Southgate's famous waistcoat and tie combo which saw sales of waistcoats soar during the summer - even in the warm weather - the jumper has been a big hit for online retailer NotJust. The knitted jumper, which retails for £34.99, features 'Christmas Is Coming Home' on the back and will no doubt get a sales boost after England's dramatic Nations League win over Croatia on Sunday.
The designs really is a cut above what you might pick up on the high street but it's not the only Gareth Southgate "merch" you can buy this winter. There's also a Gareth Southgate Annual which features all manner of puzzles and trivia about the former Aston Villa defender. There's even a mask you can cut out so matched with the jumper, you're onto a winner.
We should point out here that the book is entirely unofficial Gareth Southgate Annual. The blurb claims: "This book is for anyone who remembers Euro '96 as the golden age and is now dusting off their cynicism reliving their youth, as well as a whole new generation of untarnished England fans. It's for all lovers of the beautiful game as well as lovers of a well-turned-out waistcoat."
